These are the two photographs I took that got selected to be in The Magical Mycology Show at the Kouba Gallery. It was great to see a bunch of different types of mushrooms. They even had a homegrown mushroom vendor on site! We bought some and cooked them at home in our pasta. Yum.
The first one I called A Fun Guy. "This yellow-tipped coral fungus was found in the upper Northern area of Minnesota on a hiking trail. Its bright colors caught my eyes on that cloudy day. This young fun guy reaches its little arms out towards the sky as it grows, hoping one day it grows really big."
The second one I called A Bug's Life. "A bug's journey is an interesting one. I was happy to stop and take a closer look into this bug's life. This ant was the only one I found on this common mushroom on my hiking trail. How did you get here? Where is your colony? Are you having lunch on this mushroom? Questions I will never have answered, but I could only observe as the ant crawled all over the mushroom"
Did the ant have a death wish? I later learned from other mushroom enthusiasts at the show that the white mushroom is also known as "White Death". I'm glad I didn't mess with it.
